About the clinic
CMI Crémazie is located a few steps away from the Crémazie metro station on the orange line. It offers eight disciplines including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and acupuncture. Free parking.
Physiotherapy
What happens during a session with our physiotherapists?
In order to begin a physiotherapy treatment, you must first go through an evaluation with one of our physiotherapists. The purpose of this evaluation is to identify the cause of your pain in order to provide you with the appropriate care.
The sessions are a mix of techniques like myofascial release, manual therapy, taping, and personalized exercises. You may have to perform mobility, stretching or strengthening exercises depending on your condition, your tolerance and your irritability.
The number of repetitions and series, the duration of the break between each exercise and the frequency will be adapted.
Occupational therapy
What is the purpose of occupational therapy?
When you come to CMI Crémazie for a consultation in occupational therapy, our therapists have only one mission: to restore your functional abilities. In short, to regain your autonomy.
This loss of autonomy may be due to an accident or an injury. If this is the case and you can no longer perform certain daily activities or if your professional life is affected, occupational therapy can help you.
Talk to your doctor so that he or she can tell you when the timing is right and your condition is optimal for effective rehabilitation.
What are the techniques used in occupational therapy?
Occupational therapists use a variety of techniques to help you safely and effectively regain your independence. Activity is a key part of the rehabilitation process because it allows the patient to be a full participant in his or her treatment, which can help restore self-confidence.
Each treatment plan is unique and customized, so the techniques will vary from one patient to the next.
Some of the techniques used by occupational therapists include education (about the injury, the symptoms, and safe work techniques), work task simulation, and restoring the patient’s ability to function at home.
Mental Health Occupational Therapy
When can mental health occupational therapy be used?
Mental health occupational therapy is for anyone whose psychological condition has a negative impact on their daily life. This can result in an inability to carry on with one’s activities.
Occupational therapists at CMI Crémazie welcome people suffering from depression and mood disorders, but also patients whose symptoms are just beginning to appear.
It is never too early or too late to consult a mental health occupational therapist.
Through gradual adaptation strategies and situational exercises, the occupational therapist will act as a pillar to support the patient’s return to their meaningful activities, such as going back to work.
As soon as you notice signs such as a loss of appetite, a feeling of exhaustion, a decrease in your energy level or motivation following a physical injury or not, do not hesitate to talk to your doctor so that he or she can refer you to the appropriate health care professional. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health.
Kinesiology
What are the objectives of kinesiology?
A kinesiologist works with his or her patient to achieve two main goals: improving their physical activity and helping them adopt healthy lifestyle habits. Kinesiology is also effective for injury recovery and rehabilitation.
So, whether you want to be well prepared for the next Montreal Marathon or correct a bad posture from your daily life, kinesiology is for you.
What is the training program based on?
With an assessment performed during the first session, our kinesiologists will define a training program adapted to your needs and your physical condition.
This assessment includes a muscular and articular evaluation, but our kinesiologists also try to understand your functioning and the importance of physical activity in your life.
Your kinesiologist will then have all the necessary information to help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be.
Acupuncture
What is acupuncture?
This therapeutic art is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is said to be over 3000 years old.
After a clinical examination, the acupuncturist will identify the source of the patient’s imbalance in order to intervene. In acupuncture, the intervention is most often done with needles, but also with suction cups and heat.
Whether or not to use each tool will vary depending on the age and condition of the patient, which is why the initial assessment is so important.
Acupuncture treats many disorders including urinary tract infections, hot flashes, muscle aches and pains, and nervous twitches.
Therapeutic Yoga
Who is therapeutic yoga for?
Our therapeutic yoga services at CMI Crémazie are for anyone who wants to improve their physical and mental well-being.
If you are currently dealing with stress due to a change in your life (work, moving), or if you have suffered an injury and are still in pain, the practice of therapeutic yoga can help you manage these events.
Your yoga teacher will guide you towards your goal to improve your well-being. This will be done through specific yoga postures, but also through relaxation and meditation techniques. You will be fully involved in your therapy.
Massage therapy
What kind of massage services do we offer? For which conditions?
At CMI Crémazie, we focus on three different types of massage: relaxation massage, therapeutic massage and massage for pregnant women.
Therefore, our massage therapists provide Swedish massages (dynamic movements), as well as myofascial release (slow movements).
Massage therapy is for everyone: some of our patients come to us for work-related stress while others come for chronic pain or after an injury.
Massage therapy has proven to be effective in many ways. It can relieve muscle pain, improve sleep quality and promote relaxation.
Private Trainer
Why should you work with a private trainer? Fitness, weight loss…
If you have set a goal for yourself and need a little motivation to reach it, the services of a trainer may be for you! Whether your goal is weight loss, sports performance or getting back into shape, a trainer can help you achieve it.
In addition to being a source of motivation, your professional trainer will monitor your progress and ensure that you are carrying out your program safely and without putting your health at risk.
An evaluation will help your trainer to define your goals with you, in order to set up a specific program. Make an appointment directly with one of our private trainers to get started.
This service can be provided through teleconsultation.
